With
your support, Chuck Dade will be your watchdog for
an open and transparent government.
He is a New Bedford native, a
veteran, and an active citizen with a well rounded
education that has
been paying attention to and participating (and commenting)
on issues for sometime.
New Bedford's motto is: Lucem diffundo: "I diffuse
the light"
But to truly be a city that spreads true light.. you
have to first recognize it... you have to be open
to ALL of those that bring the light.
Chuck would be a watchdog in fulfilling this; he
would be your watchdog for an open democracy. An "at
large" seat would put him in a position to access
more concerns insuring fairness to all of NB.
Many incumbents have been in for
quite a while. Isn't it time for fresh and innovative thinking?
Chuck's priorities would be:
Open
and transparent government,
Capacity building
Open
opportunity
Quality education
Equitable
economic development prioritizing sustainabilty.
Social
Justice- defeating inequity in general and
In regards to the train.
In
regards to EPA decisions.
Clean,
safe, and prosperous environment.
Support
of immediate neighborhood policing.
Will
lead an effort to reverse the EPA decision to
bury PCBs in the harbor.

When recently asked what his plans were for New Bedford,
Chuck said,
" Foremost I take the stance of a defender
of the rights of J.Q. Public."
"It's not so much 'a plan' I bring but a stance.
I try to help forward progress towards a healthy culture
and environment by lending support to building an
economy that fosters it. "-- working to realizing
positive industry; not just any jobs-- working toward
capacity
building: Better education, better
vocations.
To be democratic you need an open government; we
need more transparency.
There are too many instances where democratic actions
are runned over by those that say that they were providing
democracy but in reality they just massage things
to benefit certain sphere's of influence feigning
public process but actually disuading any real public
participation in an effective way.
"As a veteran, a defender
of democracy, I think that that is unacceptable."
"I threw my name into the ring for basicly two
reasons.
The first is simply because I have been being asked
to.
A lot of people had suggested I run for something,
I guess based on some of my comments on issues and
activities that I was involved or interested in. Running
for office is not something I really ever thought
of doing and I'm really skeptical because I really
do not like the lable politician. I've told people
for years that I'm an activist NOT a politican. And
actually I consider my self just an active citizen.
I think everyone should be active."
"The second is I noticed that during the last
election all, but one, of the incumbents were re-elected
(and the one not re-elected had died); yet people
(paradoxically) complain of the status quo never changing.
I also remembered that (during the last election)
the city's election commissioner had said on the radio
that she'd like to see more people run for office
to freshen up the mix (not her exact words)."
Chuck , hence, has made himself available as a candidate
based on these reasons, he could do at least as good
a job as many of the incumbents but with fresh innovative
ideas which would re-vitalize the discourse.
"The fact that I received increased requests
to run for office when the close of the nomination
period was looming induced me to go acquire the required
signatures during the last week before the close of nomination
papers. I told diverse people that I'd get half of
what was needed personally if they could get the other
half of the signatures required. That I'd be willing
to do the job for 2 years if they did.. They more
than doubled that in less than a week."
In an "at large" seat Chuck would be in
a position to access more concerns and insure fairness
to more of NB residents. Many of the incumbents have
been in for quite a while. Again, Chuck would bring
fresh amd innovative ideas.
